WrongfulDeath

The mother of the 19-year-old SIU student found dead in woods off Illinois 13 in February has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver of the vehicle he was last seen riding in the night of his death.

The Southern Illinoisan writes:

The lawsuit seeks more than $1 million. Lovely Varughese, the mother of Pravin Varughese, said money is the not important factor.

“Pravin’s smile is worth more than that,” she said. “This is the only way we felt we could get the answers we wanted.”

Varughese went missing the night of Feb. 12. His body was found Feb. 18 in a wooded area off the 1400 block of East Main Street. He was last seen unharmed at a party on Feb. 12.

Carbondale Police said they eventually learned the 19-year-old got a ride that night, apparently being picked up in the 600 block of West College Street. After an altercation in the vehicle, Varughese reportedly got out and ran into the wooded area.
