On January 31, two girls were born at Brookdale Hospital within four hours of each other. According to one of the mothers, the hospital gave one child to the wrong mother..

A New York woman claims her daughter was switched at birth with another baby, and as a result, her baby was breast-fed by a different woman, WABC reported.

Shatiesha Brown gave birth to Anaya Victoria on January 31 at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. Within four hours of Anaya’s birth, another woman whose first name begins with the letter “S” and whose last name is Brown gave birth to a baby girl, Brown told the TV station.

Brown had high blood pressure and doctors told her she could not be with Anaya for 24 hours, so they could make sure she did not have seizures, Brown said.

However, during those 24 hours, Anaya was bonding with the other woman, who was breast-feeding Anaya and taking family photos with her, said Michael Lamonsoff, Brown's lawyer.

When the mistake was finally realized and Anaya was returned to Brown, she rejected her natural mother’s milk, and now has to be fed formula, Brown said.

Lamonsoff said his client plans to sue the hospital. A representative from Brookdale was not available for comment.
