Nursing Home Negligence

We place our trust in nursing homes to care for our senior citizens in their twilight years. Many times, nursing home residents suffer from senility, confusion and loss of memory. As a result of these frailties, they may become institutionalized and unable to advocate for themselves. As a result, they are natural victims for injuries resulting from the negligence and abuse of their caretakers. They can become victims of neglect and abuse. Commonly, injuries can result from falls, malnutrition, bed sores and dehydration. Unfortunately, efficiency and profitability have often become more important than administering proper care. Some nursing home operators improperly cut corners by not hiring a sufficient number of adequately trained staff and fail to give them the supplies and resources necessary to appropriately care for the nursing home residents. Others are more blatantly negligent or abusive. Many federal and state regulations have been passed to protect our seniors.
